Surveillance

Security guards are expected to observe and monitor changes in the environment in order to make sound decisions when devising a plan of action.

This objective is typically achieved by conducting an in-person or remote surveillance of the physical environment. It is important to document any suspicious activity.

Decision Making

Upon noticing an uncommon situation, security guards are expected to act in a professional and calm manner.

While on patrol and conducting surveillance, you are expected to document in your notebook or report uncommon behaviors or situations in your environment. While on duty, security guards often notice situations that may seem as minor changes or issues. However they may be critical.

As a security guard you will observe and notice various situations, and as such you must proceed in the best-suited action to protect people, property and information. When on-site, you will be required to follow the clients procedure of security, and post orders.

It is also important that you know exactly what you are allowed to do and what you are not allowed to do under the law.

Most situations that security guards encounter are those involving people. Hence guards are required to manage individuals, vehicles and materials in a safe and polite manner, while assessing situation for threats.
