Basic Procedures

A security guard should always maintain a professional manner, have a professional appearance and exhibit a positive attitude.

Security guards need to respond to changes in their environment, which include actions such as:

  • Traffic movement
  • Ensuring the safety of persons between and within locations
  • Monitoring and managing the access and departure of persons and vehicles
  • Observing and monitoring people

Security guards need to be aware of the correct way to deal with these situations.

When dealing with an irate person, the guards should make all attempts to de-escalate the situation and take control.

Never make assumptions on duty when approaching or dealing with people. Everyone is dangerous, and it only takes a second to cause you serious harm. So it’s best to keep your focus and be safe at all times.
