Primary Check

  • Check for Responsiveness of the victim
    • Tap and shout. Determine if the victim is responsive to your attempts
  • Breathing
    • Check if the victim is breathing
    • Look at chest and face. Note if the chest is rising, or if there is any facial movement
    • Do you hear any abnormal sounds?
  • Check for severe bleeding.
    • Slide your hands around the victims body. Look at your hands periodically to determine if there is any bleeding from the victim.
    • Look on the ground and surrounding area for signs of bleeding.
